Hashtag Creative Media was commissioned to produce a series of documentary films exploring the impact of music education across schools in Newham, highlighting how creative programmes can transform learning environments and student confidence.
Key Challenges
Filming within school environments required careful planning and strict adherence to safeguarding protocols to ensure the wellbeing and privacy of all pupils involved.
Key challenges included:
• Working within active school environments without disrupting lessons or classroom learning
• Ensuring all filming followed safeguarding policies and school safeguarding leads’ guidance
• Managing GDPR compliance and media consent for all pupils appearing on camera
• Protecting the identity of students where required while still capturing authentic classroom moments
• Creating a relaxed environment where pupils and teachers felt comfortable being filmed
• Coordinating filming across multiple schools while maintaining a consistent narrative and visual style
The production team worked closely with school leadership teams, safeguarding officers and Newham Music representatives to ensure every stage of filming was conducted responsibly and ethically.
